Broad Branch Road & Beach Drive in Rock Creek Park
https://maps.app.goo.gl/XhyJULjxYrmLg9sE9
Former Bike Rack DC Beginner ride, it has survived the closing of BRDC, and the pandemic, and morphed into a ride that offers something for everyone. A/B/C groups usually form after the first attack following a social start. Regroup at the turnaround and again at the finish.
If you’re feeling racy you can race. If you don’t have legs you can likely fall in with another group and meet up at the turnaround point (Viers Mill Park). Expect pace lines, breakaways and tactics up front, but very little vehicular traffic throughout. While it can get spicy, this is ultimately a social ride and all are welcome to enjoy post-ride refreshments and revelry at Don Juan‘s in Mount Pleasant, just a short climb past the finish.
Start: Open City Coffee House, 2331 Calvert St NW, Washington, DC 20008
We will launch at 10am! Riders are encouraged to show up early to socialize and support local business :)
End: Don Juan‘s, 1660 Lamont St NW, Washington, DC

This awesome ride is back in action in 2024. It’s still a ride from DC out to the parks and to the leafy green streets of Montgomery Co - no car needed, with some new added perks since cycling is only as enjoyable as the coffee and tailgating.
As always, the route features loops with lots of rolling hills and a few lung-inhaling climbs. This month includes Mountain Gate and Berryville Road and traverses several urban neighborhoods on well-established bicycle corridors and through some quiet back roads around Potomac.
While we look forward to the joys of spinning harmoniously and consciously in pace lines, we are recreational riders and not racers, so we’re prioritizing socializing before and after the ride itself. We encourage all to arrive early before the 10:00 AM ride start to enjoy coffee and a pastry at Open City Coffee House (2321 Woodley Road, near the intersection with Connecticut Ave and a hop-skip-and-a-jump from the Woodley Park metro station on the red line. Enjoy a post-ride tailgate at Don Juan‘s in Mount Pleasant (1660 Lamont Street, NW at the corner of Mt. Pleasant Avenue).

The Usual Monday Ride from Glen Echo. For Covid vaccinated riders, a weekly ride primarily through the rolling neighborhoods of Bethesda and Potomac. Usually, the exact route is at the whim of the ride leaders, so there are no cues and the distance varies. The group stops to regroup at all decision points and at the tops of any significant climbs. When there is interest and on Federal Holidays, a longer option is usually available. Coffee shop and socializing near end of the ride. On holidays a RidewithGPS file of a 35ish and 60ish mile route will be posted here. Ride Leaders: Warren Farb (wfarb@mac.com) and Janice Stoodley (janice.stoodley1@gmail.com)
SORRY high winds today. See you next week.
The usual Monday EZ BB pace ride throughout Frederick County on rural roads, frequent use of pacelines, no big climbs, exact route varies each week, so no cue sheet, we regroup at decision points. We will go longer as daylight allows up to 50 miles in late June/July.
5:03 pm start at the Starbucks on 7th Street in Frederick. No go in active rain. Ride leader: Darius Mark (darius.mark.mdge@statefarm.com). Rides are also posted, updated, and cancelled on FB here: @frederickroadriding
Yup: we are back for 2024, y‘all! A prompt 6pm departure will take us on an ever-changing route (due to sunset times) out to Montgomery County and back, taking myriad turns, climbs, descents, and views in along the way. THIS IS NOT A SHOW-AND-GO RIDE! Please click on the ride description and sign the online waiver (Google Form) - you need only do this once for the ENTIRE DTB series! Ride will not go in thunderstorms, AQI > 100, heat index over 100°F, bad windstorms, ice, or snow.
Glen Echo Park - lower parking lot, turn off MacArthur Blvd onto Oxford Street
Each week will have a uniquely assigned Ride with GPS route link posted at least two days before the ride. All riders are expected to download the Ride with GPS route onto their devices or have printed out a cue sheet in case they decide to separate from the group for whatever reason. The group is expected to ride together at the group leader’s C pace, which will be 11 to 12 mph on average. Rides typically are 25 to 30 miles and ascent will be between 1,000’ and 2,200’, depending on the route. All routes are in low-traffic, moderately hilly residential areas. Those wishing to ride at an average pace of greater than 12 mph usually will have the opportunity to form a CC-level ride group at the start and depart a few minutes early with a ride leader from among their ranks. Each ride will have a rest/restroom stop midway and an optional lunch stop near the end. This is a recurring ride. ALL RIDERS MUST REGISTER EACH WEEK. For new riders, emergency-contact information is collected at the ride start.
Join us for a new weekly evening ride starting on Thursdays in April! We’ll take on a rolling route of 25-30 miles with some hills and aim to regroup a couple of times to stay together. We plan for one group going a high B/low BB pace. Meet in front of the bike shop at Laytons VIllage shopping center.
WARNING: There is a non-PPTC group ride leaving from the same parking lot on Thursdays - you will quickly know if you accidentally join their AA pace race practice. Ask for Allison or Chris with PPTC if you aren‘t sure if you have the right group!
This social ride is one of the Thursday evening Tenleytown DC meet-ups and is a 15.2 mile loop through Westgate, Kenwood, Bethesda, Chevy Chase, then to within sight of the Mormon Temple, and back. The route for this evening is relatively flat with a couple of pesky hills out and back coming to about 900 feet total of climbing, mostly on quiet residential streets with the exception of a short stretch through downtown Bethesda.
Meet by 6:15p at the south parking lot of the now-closed Tenleytown ElectriCityBikes store on Wisconsin Ave., NW.
GPS file route - https://ridewithgps.com/routes/30012899
Those so desiring afterwards can go several blocks from the ride finish to Pete’s Pizza and eat at the outside tables there. If you sign up, and later decide not to ride, please cancel online by 4 pm the day of the ride. Ride cancellation in the event of rain and wet roads will be posted here no later than 5p the day of the ride.

This ride is 49 miles in length, 945 ft climb, and starts on the C&D canal in Chesapeake City, MD. We will follow the canal trail east to Delaware City. Then we will cross the canal on the Reedy Point Bridge (biggest climb on the ride) and follow scenic low traffic roads for a loop on the south side of the canal to Port Penn and Augustine Beach. We will circle back to the Reedy Point Bridge to again cross the canal and take a short snack break in the park along the Delaware Bay before we cycle back to Chesapeake City via a road route. Once back we have the option for lunch/dinner at Schaefer‘s Canal House. Bring snacks and water for the ride. Bring money for lunch/dinner after the ride.
