About this event

This traditional PPTC ride from DC is back in action with monthly rides to neighboring VA and MD. This month, we offer two routes that are excellent training for the club's marquee fall event, the Harvest Hundred. If you have thought about riding a century, feel comfortable riding at least 50 miles, but aren't sure if you are ready for a century, these rides are for you! Riders new to the series, new to the club, and new to the area are always welcome.

As always, the route features rolling hills and a few lung-inhaling climbs. We look forward to the joys of a harmonious peloton with occasional pace lines when roads and traffic allow. We are recreational riders and not racers, so we’re prioritizing safety.

As with other PPTC rides, cycling is made better by the opportunity for socializing before and after the ride itself. Though not necessary to participate in the ride, we encourage all to arrive early before the ride start to enjoy coffee and a pastry at Open City Café (2331 Calvert St, NW) and join the group for a post-ride tailgate at Pete’s Apizza (4940 Wisconsin Ave, NW).

This is a no-drop ride. However, please download the route and refer to the Potomac Pedalers ride class table for pacing.

73 mile route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/51931072

57 mile route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/51931422

Both routes ride together until the first rest stop at approximately mile 25. Both end at the same place.

With a training ride done, make sure you are registered for Harvest Hundred! Registration can be found here: https://www.potomacpedalers.org/content.aspx?page_id=4091&club_id=495413&item_id=2628368
